This fort is in Wyoming said to be haunted by several ghosts. Fort Laramie was active from 1834 to 1890. During the 1830s and 40s the fort was used as a trading post and a stopover point, rest stop and resupplying stop for wagon trains that were heading west. During its time as a trading post, the man who ran the place brought his daughter to the fort to live with him. One day while her father was away the girl rode off on her black horse. Several men tried to stop her but she didn’t listen and took off and was never seen again. No trace of her was never found and to this day no one is really sure what happened to her. Witness reports say she can be seen every seven years wearing a green dress and riding her black horse at breakneck speed down the Oregon Trail.
Another location on the base that is said to be haunted is the old Captain’s quarters. The site has been reportedly been the host of many strange events such as doors that open and close by themselves and eerie footsteps. There have also been reports of lights inside the building although there is no electricity. The ghost in this building has been affectionately named George.
Also on this base is a reportedly haunted building called Old Bedlam. Reports say there is a soldier who walks through the building and tells people to be quiet.
In the old two-story building known as Calvary barracks, the sound of heavy boots are sometimes heard on the boardwalk in front. Also, there have been reports of troops being seen answering the call to room reveille early in the morning.
